Air-Fryer Backyard Burger Dog Trays

This is what happens when a burger and a hot dog stop competing and decide to work together. Smoky sausages. Juicy beef. Melted cheese.

Air-Fryer Backyard Burger Dog Trays preparation stage

You’ll Need

4 large hot dog sausages
400g beef mince
4 hot dog rolls
100g grated cheddar
1 small onion, finely diced
1 tbsp olive oil

Burger Seasoning
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp sea salt
½ tsp black pepper

To Finish
4 tbsp burger sauce
2 tbsp BBQ sauce
50g crispy onions

Optional But Dangerous
Pickles
Jalapeños
American cheese slices
Loaded fries

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.

Mix the beef mince with the diced onion, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Divide into four equal portions.

Wrap each portion around a sausage, sealing it completely.

Place the burger dogs into the air fryer basket.

Air fry for 14–16 minutes, turning halfway through.

Cook until the beef is browned and the sausage is fully heated through.

During the final 2 minutes, warm the hot dog rolls in the fryer.

Place each burger dog into a roll.

Top with grated cheddar and return to the fryer for 1–2 minutes until melted.

Drizzle over burger sauce and BBQ sauce.

Finish with crispy onions, pickles, jalapeños, or American cheese if using.

Serve immediately while still hot and messy.

Lad Tip: If you can eat one of these without sauce running down your hands, you've built it wrong. Backyard barbecue food should always feel slightly out of control.
