Air-Fryer BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Skewers

This is what happens when somebody can't decide between burgers and barbecue. So they stop trying. Juicy beef. Smoky bacon.

Air-Fryer BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Skewers preparation stage

You’ll Need

500g beef mince (20% fat works best)
8 rashers streaky bacon
150g cheddar cheese, cut into cubes
1 red onion, cut into chunks
1 red pepper, cut into chunks
1 tbsp olive oil

Burger Seasoning
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp sea salt
½ tsp black pepper

BBQ Glaze
3 tbsp smoky BBQ sauce
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Optional But Dangerous
Pickles
Burger sauce
Loaded fries
Jalapeños

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.

Mix the beef mince with the smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Form into small meatball-sized burger balls.

Cut the bacon rashers in half.

Thread onto skewers in this order: beef ball, bacon fold, onion, cheese cube, pepper.

Repeat until the skewer is loaded.

Lightly brush everything with olive oil.

Place the skewers into the air fryer basket.

Cook for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway through.

While they cook, mix together the BBQ sauce, honey, and Worcestershire sauce.

Brush the skewers generously during the final 3 minutes.

Continue cooking until the glaze turns sticky and the bacon starts crisping around the edges.

Remove carefully and allow to rest for 1 minute.

Serve immediately with pickles and burger sauce for dipping.

Lad Tip: If the cheese starts leaking slightly and caramelising onto the skewer, leave it alone. That's not a mistake. That's the best bit.
