Air-Fryer Chilli Jam BBQ Sausage Rolls

This is what happens when a sausage roll wanders too close to a barbecue. Smoky sausage meat. Sweet chilli jam. Golden flaky pastry.

Air-Fryer Chilli Jam BBQ Sausage Rolls preparation stage

You’ll Need

1 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry
500g pork sausage meat
2 tbsp sweet chilli jam
1 tbsp BBQ sauce
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp sea salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 egg, beaten

Optional But Dangerous
Extra chilli jam
Pickles
Burger sauce
Cold beer

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 190°C.

In a bowl, mix together the sausage meat, sweet chilli jam, BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Unroll the puff pastry onto a board.

Shape the sausage mixture into a long sausage down the centre of the pastry.

Fold the pastry over and seal the edge firmly.

Turn seam-side down.

Cut into individual sausage rolls.

Brush generously with beaten egg.

Place into the air fryer basket with space between each roll.

Air fry for 12–15 minutes until deeply golden, puffed, and cooked through.

For extra barbecue energy, brush lightly with a little extra chilli jam during the final 2 minutes.

Remove carefully and allow to cool for 2 minutes before serving.

Serve hot with extra chilli jam or burger sauce for dipping.

Lad Tip: If a little chilli jam leaks out and caramelises onto the pastry, leave it alone. That's not a problem. That's the bit everybody fights over once the tray hits the table.
