The Grand Tour Story
The Grand Tour leaves Budapest behind and crosses into the Czech Republic, where cobbled streets wind beneath
Gothic spires, old breweries sit beside quiet rivers, and every evening seems to end in a beer hall full of laughter,
roasted pork and enormous glasses of lager.
Welcome to Prague.
We duck into a centuries-old pivnice where wooden tables are packed shoulder to shoulder. Waiters somehow
carry eight pints at once while the kitchen turns out plate after plate of crisp pork schnitzel.
Our guide, Pavel, notices us watching.
He raises an eyebrow.
"Crispy outside."
"Juicy inside."
"Everything else is just conversation."
After one basket, nobody had much left to say.
You’ll Need
For the Pork
600g pork loin or pork leg, cut into bite-sized strips
80g plain flour
2 eggs, beaten, 120g panko breadcrumbs
1 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp sea salt, ½ tsp cracked black pepper
Oil spray
Beer-Hall Potatoes
500g baby potatoes, halved, 1 tbsp sunflower oil
1 tsp smoked paprika, ½ tsp garlic powder
Sea salt, Black pepper
To Finish
Lemon wedges
Fresh parsley, chopped
Optional but dangerous
Wholegrain mustard
Pickled gherkins
Sauerkraut
Cold Czech lager
Method
Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.
Toss the potatoes with the sunflower oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, sea salt and black pepper.
Air fry the potatoes for 18–20 minutes, shaking halfway through, until crisp and golden.
Meanwhile, flatten the pork strips slightly between baking paper.
In one bowl place the flour.
In a second bowl beat the eggs.
In a third bowl mix together the panko breadcrumbs, smoked paprika, garlic powder, sea salt and black pepper.
Coat each piece of pork in flour, then egg, then the seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing firmly so the coating sticks
properly.
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil and arrange the pork in a single layer. Spray the tops lightly with oil.
Air fry for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway through, until deeply golden, crisp and cooked through.
Serve alongside the crispy potatoes with lemon wedges, chopped parsley and wholegrain mustard if using.
