You’ll Need

100g softened butter
170g plain flour
90g light brown sugar
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
40g caster sugar
80g milk chocolate chunks
1 egg
60g salted pretzels, roughly crushed
1 tsp vanilla extract
80g thick caramel sauce
To Finish
Flaky sea salt
Extra caramel sauce
Optional But Dangerous
Vanilla ice cream
Melted milk chocolate

Method

Preheat the air fryer to 160°C and line a 15cm square tin with baking paper.

Beat the butter and both sugars until combined, then beat in the egg and vanilla.

Fold in the flour and bicarbonate of soda to make a soft dough.

Mix through the chocolate and two-thirds of the pretzels.

Press half the dough into the tin and spread the caramel over it, leaving a 1cm border.

Flatten pieces of the remaining dough over the top and scatter over the remaining pretzels.

Air fry at 160°C for 14-16 minutes until golden at the edges but still soft in the centre.

Cool for 20 minutes, add a pinch of sea salt and slice into bars.

Lad Tip: The bars finish setting outside the fryer. Cut them while blazing hot and you will have caramel rubble - delicious rubble, but rubble.
