Air-Fryer Sticky Cola BBQ Chicken Wings

This is one of those barbecue recipes that sounds slightly ridiculous until you eat it. Then suddenly you're making it again next weekend.

Air-Fryer Sticky Cola BBQ Chicken Wings preparation stage

You’ll Need

1kg chicken wings
1 tbsp olive oil

Wing Seasoning
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp sea salt
½ tsp black pepper

Sticky Cola Glaze
200ml cola
3 tbsp BBQ sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Optional But Dangerous
Loaded fries
Blue cheese dip
Jalapeños
Extra glaze

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.

Pat the wings dry thoroughly with kitchen paper.

Toss with the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Place into the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Air fry for 22–25 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crisp.

While the wings cook, add the cola, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, honey, and Worcestershire sauce to a saucepan.

Simmer gently for 10–12 minutes until reduced, thickened, and glossy.

Once the wings are cooked, brush generously with the cola glaze.

Return to the air fryer for 4–5 minutes until the glaze becomes dark, sticky, and heavily caramelised.

Brush with another layer of glaze immediately after cooking.

Allow to rest for 1 minute before serving.

Serve hot and prepare for sticky fingers.

Lad Tip: The glaze should look slightly out of control by the end. If you're not finding sticky fingerprints on random objects half an hour later, you probably didn't use enough sauce.
