Air-Fryer Big Mac-Style Dirty Burger Trays preparation stage

Everybody knows the burger. Two beef patties. Melty cheese. Pickles. Shredded lettuce. Special sauce. Soft buns. This version throws all sense of restraint straight out of the kitchen window. Crispy seasoned fries loaded with smashed beef, melted cheese, burger sauce, pickles, lettuce, onions, and enough Big Mac-inspired flavour to make the drive-thru feel nervous. It's everything good about a burger. Just harder to eat neatly.

You’ll Need

400g beef mince (20% fat works best)
400g frozen fries
1 small onion, finely diced
100g grated cheddar
50g grated mozzarella
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
Oil spray

Burger Sauce
4 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp finely chopped pickles
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder

To Finish
Shredded iceberg lettuce
Sliced gherkins
Sesame seeds

Optional but Dangerous
Extra cheese
Bacon bits
Jalapeños

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.

Cook the fries according to packet instructions until deeply golden and crispy.

Meanwhile place the beef mince into a foil tray or heatproof dish.

Season with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and diced onion.

Air fry at 190°C for 10–12 minutes, breaking the beef up halfway through until browned and slightly crispy around

the edges.

Mix together all the burger sauce ingredients until smooth.

Transfer the cooked fries into a large serving tray.

Scatter over the cooked beef.

Cover generously with both cheeses.

Return to the air fryer at 180°C for 2–3 minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles.

Remove carefully.

Drizzle heavily with burger sauce.

Top with shredded lettuce, sliced gherkins, and a light sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Serve immediately while hot, messy, and structurally questionable.

Lad Tip: The lettuce goes on after the cheese. Always. Hot lettuce is sadness. Cold crunchy lettuce against hot beef and molten cheese is where the magic lives.
