Air-Fryer Korean Sticky Chicken Burger Boxes
Air-Fryer Korean Sticky Chicken Burger Boxes preparation stage

This is the sort of fakeaway that makes ordinary chicken burgers look underqualified. Crispy chicken coated in a sticky Korean-inspired glaze loaded with garlic, soy, chilli, and sweetness that caramelises into every crunchy corner. Stuffed into soft burger buns, loaded with crunchy slaw, and served alongside crispy fries that disappear long before the burger does. The sort of meal that starts with: "I'll save half for later." And ends with: "Well... that escalated quickly."

You’ll Need

2 chicken breast fillets, butterflied and flattened slightly
80g plain flour
40g cornflour
1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp chilli flakes, 1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper, 2 eggs, beaten
Oil spray
2 burger buns
Handful of shredded cabbage
1 carrot, grated
2 tbsp mayonnaise

Korean Sticky Glaze
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp gochujang or chilli paste
2 cloves garlic, finely grated
1 tsp sesame oil

To Serve
Frozen fries
Spring onions, sliced
Sesame seeds

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.

Mix the flour, cornflour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, chilli flakes, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.

Dip the chicken into the beaten egg, then coat thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing it on firmly.

Lightly spray the basket with oil.

Place the chicken into the basket and spray the tops lightly with oil.

Air fry at 200°C for 14–16 minutes, turning halfway, until deeply golden, crisp, and cooked through.

Meanwhile, mix together the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, gochujang, garlic, and sesame oil in a small saucepan

or microwave-safe bowl and warm gently until glossy.

Cook the fries according to packet instructions until crisp and golden.

Mix the cabbage, carrot, and mayonnaise together to create a quick crunchy slaw.

Once the chicken is cooked, immediately toss it through the Korean glaze until fully coated.

Toast the burger buns in the air fryer for 1–2 minutes.

Build the burgers with slaw first, then the sticky Korean chicken.

Finish with spring onions and sesame seeds.

Serve immediately with the fries alongside.

Lad Tip: The glaze should be sticky enough that you start checking your fingers between bites. If it stays neatly on the chicken, you've been far too sensible with it.
