This is the sort of fakeaway that should never have worked. A smashed burger. Inside a toasted tortilla. Melted cheese. Burger sauce. Pickles. Crispy beef edges. Crunchy lettuce. Somewhere between a cheeseburger and a wrap, somebody accidentally created one of the greatest lazy takeaway foods ever invented. Fast. Filthy. Ridiculously good. Exactly what we're here for.
You’ll Need
500g beef mince (20% fat works best)
4 tortilla wraps
4 burger cheese slices
1 tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp smoked paprika
Burger Sauce
4 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp ketchup, 1 tsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp finely chopped pickles, ½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
To Finish
Shredded iceberg lettuce
Sliced gherkins
½ small onion, finely diced
Optional but Dangerous
Jalapeños
Bacon bits
Extra cheese
Method
Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.
Mix the beef mince with the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
Divide into 4 equal balls.
Press each ball directly onto a tortilla wrap and flatten into a thin smash-burger layer covering most of the
tortilla.
Place the wraps beef-side up into the air fryer basket.
Air fry at 200°C for 6–8 minutes until the beef develops dark crispy edges and is cooked through.
Flip carefully.
Top each beef side with a slice of burger cheese.
Cook for another 1–2 minutes until melted.
Meanwhile mix together all the burger sauce ingredients.
Remove the wraps.
Add lettuce, diced onion, and sliced gherkins.
Drizzle generously with burger sauce.
Fold in half like a taco.
Return to the air fryer for 1 minute if you want the tortilla lightly toasted.
Serve immediately while hot, cheesy, and structurally questionable.
