Air-Fryer Sticky Teriyaki Beef Rice Boxes preparation stage

You’ll Need

500g rump steak, sirloin, or frying steak, sliced thin
250g cooked jasmine rice
1 tbsp olive oil
2 spring onions, sliced
1 tsp sesame seeds

Teriyaki Sauce
4 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, grated
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp cornflour mixed with 1 tbsp water

Optional but Dangerous
Sliced red chillies
Extra sesame seeds
Crispy onions
Sriracha drizzle

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.

Add the sliced beef to a bowl with the olive oil and toss lightly.

Place the beef into the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Air fry for 5–7 minutes, shaking halfway, until browned around the edges.

Meanwhile add the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to a small saucepan.

Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes.

Stir in the cornflour mixture and cook until thick, glossy, and sticky.

Tip the cooked beef into a large bowl.

Pour over the teriyaki sauce and toss until every strip is coated.

Warm the rice and divide between serving bowls or meal-prep boxes.

Top with the sticky teriyaki beef.

Finish with spring onions and sesame seeds.

Add chillies, crispy onions, or sriracha if using.

Serve immediately while hot and glossy.

Lad Tip: The sauce should cling to the beef like it refuses to let go. If it's running around the bowl like soup, keep cooking it for another minute. Sticky is the entire point.
