Air-Fryer Sticky Toffee Pastry Squares

Air-fryer sticky toffee pastry squares from Sweet Munch, built for hot pastry, molten centres, sticky sugar and proper dessert chaos.

It’s rich, messy, and absolutely not meant to be eaten neatly. These feel like pub-dessert energy but louder — the kind of thing you order after a roast and then immediately regret not getting custard with.

Air-Fryer Sticky Toffee Pastry Squares preparation stage

You’ll Need

Ready-rolled puff pastry
Sticky toffee pudding (shop-bought sponge works perfectly)
Toffee sauce (from a jar or chilled section)

Optional but Encouraged
Butter
Brown sugar
Custard or vanilla ice cream

Method

1 - Preheat your air fryer to 180°C for 3–5 minutes.

2 - Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into even squares.

3 - Cut the sticky toffee pudding sponge into chunks small enough to sit comfortably inside the pastry.

4 - Place a piece of sponge into the centre of each pastry square.

5 - Spoon over a generous amount of toffee sauce, keeping it away from the edges.

6 - Fold the pastry over to form sealed squares and press the edges firmly together.

7 - Lightly grease the air fryer basket or line with baking paper.

8 - Place the pastry squares seam-side down in the basket, leaving space between them.

9 - Air fry at 180°C for 10–12 minutes until puffed, deeply golden, and crisp.

10 - Remove carefully and let them sit for a minute so the sauce settles. Serve hot.

Lad Tip: These will leak. Accept it and eat the leakiest one first. Extra toffee sauce poured over at the end is never wrong. Custard turns this into a full sit-down pudding. Do not eat immediately unless you enjoy burning your mouth.
