Air-Fryer Teriyaki Chicken Loaded Fries preparation stage

You’ll Need

500g chicken thighs, diced
400g frozen thick-cut fries
1 tbsp vegetable oil

Teriyaki Sauce
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, finely grated
1 tsp grated ginger

To Finish
2 spring onions, sliced
1 tsp sesame seeds

Optional but Dangerous
Sriracha drizzle
Pickled chillies
Garlic mayo

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C.

Cook the fries according to packet instructions until deeply golden and crisp.

While the fries cook, mix together the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.

Toss the chicken in half of the teriyaki sauce mixture.

Place the chicken into the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Air fry at 200°C for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway through, until cooked through and lightly caramelised.

Pour over the remaining teriyaki sauce and toss thoroughly.

Return to the fryer for 2–3 minutes until sticky and glossy.

Pile the cooked fries into a serving tray.

Top with the teriyaki chicken.

Finish with spring onions and sesame seeds.

Add sriracha or garlic mayo if using.

Serve immediately while everything is still hot and sticky.

Lad Tip: Loaded fries have one simple rule: the fries still need to crunch underneath everything else. If you've turned them into potato soup, you've added the toppings too early. Crunch first. Chaos second.
