Air-Fryer Thai Basil Beef Loaded Rice preparation stage

You’ll Need

500g beef mince
250g cooked jasmine rice
1 small onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 red chilli, sliced
1 tbsp olive oil

Thai Basil Sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp fish sauce
1 tsp brown sugar
½ tsp black pepper
Large handful fresh basil leaves

To Finish
2 spring onions, sliced
Lime wedges

Optional but Dangerous
Extra chillies
Fried egg
Sriracha drizzle
Fresh coriander

Method

Preheat your air fryer to 190°C.

Add the beef mince, onion, garlic, chilli, and olive oil to a foil tray or heatproof dish.

Air fry for 10–12 minutes, stirring halfway, until browned and loaded with flavour.

Stir through the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and black pepper.

Return to the air fryer for 4–5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the beef starts caramelising around the edges.

Stir through the fresh basil leaves while everything is still hot.

Add the cooked rice to a serving tray or bowl.

Spoon the Thai basil beef generously over the rice.

Finish with spring onions and lime wedges.

Add extra chillies, a fried egg, coriander, or sriracha if using.

Serve immediately while still steaming hot.

Lad Tip: Fresh basil goes in at the end. Cook it too long and it loses its magic. The moment the basil hits the hot beef and the smell fills the kitchen, you're exactly where you need to be.
