Air-Fryer Pizza Dough Breadsticks

These are the sort of breadsticks that disappear before the pizza even arrives. Golden, fluffy and brushed with rich garlic butter, they're finished with bubbling Parmesan and fragrant herbs. Perfect for dunking into marinara, loading with melted cheese or simply demolishing straight from the air fryer.

Air-Fryer Pizza Dough Breadsticks preparation stage

You’ll Need

Makes 12 breadsticks
For the Dough
500g strong white bread flour
7g fast-action dried yeast
1 tsp caster sugar
2 tsp sea salt
300ml warm water
2 tbsp olive oil
Garlic Butter
60g unsalted butter, melted
3 garlic cloves, finely grated
2 tsp dried oregano
2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
Topping
50g grated Parmesan
Freshly ground black pepper
Optional but Dangerous
Mozzarella
Chilli flakes
Marinara sauce
Garlic mayonnaise
Pizza dipping sauce

Method

In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, caster sugar and sea salt.

Add the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Cover and leave to rise for approximately 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Mix together the melted butter, garlic, oregano and parsley.

Roll the dough into a rectangle approximately 30cm x 20cm.

Cut into 12 equal breadsticks using a pizza cutter or sharp knife.

Place onto baking paper, leaving a little space between each breadstick.

Leave to prove for another 20 minutes.

Brush generously with the garlic butter.

Sprinkle evenly with the grated Parmesan and a little black pepper.

Preheat the air fryer to 180°C.

Air fry in batches for 10–12 minutes, until golden brown with lightly crisp edges.

Brush with the remaining garlic butter as soon as they come out of the fryer and finish with a little extra

parsley before serving.

Lad Tip: Serve these while they're still hot enough for the butter to soak into every crack. Put a bowl of warm marinara in the middle and don't expect the basket to stay full for very long.
